As Bill Parks has reported, the bathhouse renovation project is well underway, with the new concrete slab, framing and window installation already completed. The roofers will be moving on sight this week, and a good portion of the plumbing and electrical work has been completed. Unfortunately, construction is more than 3 weeks behind schedule due to delays caused by our "100 year" snow season, although our contractor is working hard to catch up by working 6 days per week. We have run into a number of challenges, including a costly requirement by the fire marshal for a full sprinkler system with a new water supply line and hydrant putting us close to our budget limit for the project.

We have been meeting with the contractor at least every 2 weeks, and have been in constant contact by phone and e-mail, coordinating activities between the contractor, architect and pool management company. Even though our plans at the start of construction were detailed, there have been numerous adjustments and decisions to be made every week. So, with 11 weeks to go, the big question is, will the project be completed in time for the pool to open Memorial Day weekend? At this point, we are optimistic that we can do it, with a lot of hard work and barring any additional delays.

It's worth a trip by the pool to have a look at the new building in progress. We think that the finished result will be a beautiful structure with improved functionality. We hope that it will be well worth the wait and something of which the membership can be proud.
